Today is Hari Raya Saraswati or Saraswati day – a day dedicated to Saraswati, Hindu Goddess of knowledge. On this day all books are blessed in the temple and you’re not supposed to read. I’m cheating a bit but apparently computers don’t count :p It’s also a good job that my book collection here is nothing on the scale of the one I had in the UK or we’d have been carting books to the temple all morning.
This morning we also visited the Balian (traditional balinese healer) to bring offerings to thank for his work in making our family healthy.
The day after Saraswati day is a purification day so we will travel to the beach early in the morning to wash in the sea.
