These two books were some of my favourites when I was a child so when I saw they had been reprinted, I immediately put them on my xmas wishlist (this was way before I had kids but I’ve been collecting children’s picture books for years).

I’m delighted that these are two of Maya’s favourites too. I love the fact that there are no words so you can make up your own story and it’s easy for Made to read to them in Indonesian as well. I also love that the dad gets up early with the little girl and brings the mum breakfast in bed and does the washing up!

Sunshine tells the story of a little girl (who just happens to look like Maya, especially with her new haircut, so she’s convinced it is actually her) waking up, getting ready and then the whole family rushing around as they realise they’re late.

Moonlight is the sequel with the evening routine of eating dinner and going to bed, but the little girl keeps getting up until she falls asleep on the sofa with her mum (sounds familiar).

They’re just really simple (wordless!) stories with beautiful illustrations and I think perfect for young children.

Linking up with Fritha over at Tigerlillyquinn.
